Question:

Why did I receive message "XCOMS7050E Error while Checking Password" for a TCPIP transfer?

Answer:

A transfer that works while using the SNA protocol fails with this message when using TCPIP.

SNA transfers are from "known" or SECURE LOCATION and CA-XCOM on the AS400 will accept a transfer without a userid and password. When converting from SNA to TCPIP, it is now necessary to specify a userid and password even though SNA transfers did not require one.If the password is lower case, put single quotes around it to preserve the case. Security in TCP/IP transfers is implemented by CA-XCOM itself as opposed to SNA security, that is implemented through SNA services.

When sending from the AS/400, using SNA, if no userid and password in included in the transfer the userid and password from the remote system profile will be used. For TCPIP, in most cases, it is necessary to specify a userid and password.
