Introduction:

In general, the APM Integration for App Synthetic Monitor will generate the following metrics in the APM Workstation:

  • Aggregated metrics for all monitors within the folder. These include Checks and Check Errors, Probes and Probe Errors, Connect Time (ms), Processing Time (ms), Transfer Time (ms), and Total Time (ms).
  • Aggregated metrics for all locations from which calls are issued These include up time and performance averages, Performance Status, and Errors Per Interval.
  • Metrics for each location from which calls are issued. These include Connect Time (ms), Processing Time (ms), Resolve Time (ms), Total Time (ms), and Transfer Time (ms).
Question:

Why the "Errors per Interval" metric from the ASM/Cloud Monitor Agent no longer exist after upgrading the agent to release 10.3?

Environment:
APM ASM/Cloud Manager Agent 10.3
Answer:

In ASM/Cloud Monitor agent release 10.3, the former "Errors per Interval" metric has been renamed to "Consecutive Errors".

This is the correct labeling for what the metric actually means. The value reported by this metric represents the number of errors since the first check that was in error. Every subsequent error check after the first check in error increments this value. A successful check resets this to zero. Therefore, it should not be interpreted the same way as the regular "Errors per Interval" metric in other APM agents.

The matching ASM metric for "Errors per Interval" will be introduced in a future release, which actual release has not been confirmed at this stage.

Additional Information:

The APM documentation will also be updated to reflect the correct metric name.
