The root account is the most privileged on a Linux/Unix system and has absolute power over it (i.e., complete access to all files and commands). The ITCM installer needs to executed by an account that has the ability to modify the system in any way desired like installing software and granting/revoking access, ability to read, modify and execute specific files and directories.

The CA ITCM Installer was written with the Administrator account requirement for installation and therefore the Root account is required which has all the privileges. No other account is supported for installation.
