Introduction:

We have built Spectrum in Distributed SpectroSERVER (DSS) environment with multiple OneClick Servers and Alarm Notifier instances running on remote landscapes and configured new custom events using Event Configuration tool.

Question:

Why do we get "Event Format file not exist" or SPC-OCC-10231 error message on OneClick Console's Event Message when accessing the 2nd OneClick Server?

Why do we get "Event Format file not exist" or SPC-OCC-10231 error message in some of Alarm Notifier instances' email notification?

Environment:
All OS platforms, Spectrum DSS with multiple OneClick Servers and multiple Alarm Notifier instances
Answer:

When you create a new event configuration with its Event Message and Alarm Probable Cause data, Event Configuration tool will only distribute Event Format and Probable Cause files to the OneClick Server that the Event Configuration tool is connected to and to the SpectroSERVER machine that its Location Server the OneClick Server is pointing to. This means if you have Secondary OneClick Server you will not have those Event Format and Probable Cause files generated for the new events. You need to manually copy over the Event Format and Probable Cause files from the Primary OneClick Server to the Secondary OneClick Server to avoid this issue.

The Event Format and Probable Cause files are required too by Alarm Notifier instances. If you run Alarm Notifier instance on a remote landscape then you also need to do the similar manual copy to the SpectroSERVER machine.

Once you copy over the Event Format and Probable Cause files you need OneClick Server or Alarm Notifier to reload those new files. For OneClick Server you can access Spectrum Administrator Web page, go to Administration -> Update Event and Alarm Files page and click the [Reload] button. For Alarm Notifier instance you need to restart it.

Additional Information:

Custom Event Format and Probable Cause files are generated under $SPECROOT/custom/Events/CsEvFormat and CsPCause directory respectively.
