Introduction:

In CA Client Automation if you look in All Computers the agents shows which Scalability Server it is connected to,

sometimes it will show the IP address instead of the Name.

Question:

Why does some Scalability Servers come with IP Address where others have the Server Name ?

Environment:
CA Client Automation - All Versions
Answer:

Sometimes when you register a Scalability Server to a Domain Manager to Domain Manager reaches back to

the Scalability server to get the FQDN to register the machine. If it can not get the name it will register the

machine with the IP address.

To resolve this you can fix your DNS issues

OR

Add a Windows Host entry, for example: (%windir%\system32\drivers\etc

<ip_address>    <Short Name> <Fully Qualified Domain Name>

Then unregister the Scalability Server,         from the Scalability Server type:   cserver unregister

Then register the Scalability Server,            from the Scalability Server  type    cserver register -a

Now the Scalability Server should have the the Fully Qualified Domain Name
