Question :

Why does message N11428 ... FAILURE INFO... 5 0 00000000 NO ONLINE ZIIP PROCESSORS report while the zIIP settings is set through XM=ZIIP ?

Answer :

Message N11428 is reported whenever there is a mismatch between the request to use zIIP from Netmaster through XM=zIIP and the zIIP feature.

If this one is not enabled by the hardware and activated Online, then the STATUS command will report message N11428 to indicate no zIIP processor is found.

It is possible to verify the CPU status using D M=CPU MVS command.

From each Processor Id, if the ‘I’ flag is indicated on right side, then it would indicate the zIIP processor.

Here is an example of display :

PROCESSOR STATUS
ID CPU
00
01
02 I
03 -
04 -
05 -I

ONLINE - OFFLINE . DOES NOT EXIST W WLM-MANAGED
N NOT AVAILABLE

I INTEGRATED INFORMATION PROCESSOR (zIIP)
CPC ND CENTRAL PROCESSING COMPLEX NODE DESCRIPTOR
CPC SI SYSTEM INFORMATION FROM STSI INSTRUCTION
CPC ID CENTRAL PROCESSING COMPLEX IDENTIFIER
CPC NAME CENTRAL PROCESSING COMPLEX NAME
LP NAME LOGICAL PARTITION NAME
LP ID LOGICAL PARTITION IDENTIFIER
CSS ID CHANNEL SUBSYSTEM IDENTIFIER
MIF ID MULTIPLE IMAGE FACILITY IMAGE IDENTIFIER

The zIIP processor should be hardware enabled. It may be activated from CONFIGxx member or using CONFIG MVS command as follow :

CF {{CPUAD|CPU}(x[,x]...)[,{ONLINE|ON} [,{STANDARD | ZAAP | ZIIP | ANY}] ]

[,{OFFLINE|OFF} [,{STANDARD | ZAAP | ZIIP | ANY}] ] }

Additional Information :

The CONFIG MVS command is available from MVS System Command 2.1+
