Question:

Why did TMSINIT abend with S0C7 after restoring to an OLD format TMC?

Ran TMSXTEND to test out the process and now would like to go back to the old format TMC. Changed TMOOPTxx to point to the old TMC and ran TMSINIT. It abended with S0C7.

Environment:

CA 1 rel 12.6 and 14.0

Answer:

If you run TMSXTEND and finish the process and are now active with the new enhanced format TMC and then try to back out to the old format, you must IPL. TMSINIT will abend with a S0C7 if you don't do the IPL. If you had tape processing occurring during this time, you would need to use the TMSSPLIT to get the data for the tapes that were used, and then after the IPL use TMSMERGE to put this data into the old format TMC.
