When trying to run custom Crystal Reports that were created in our Development environment, they fail with message 'Failed to open the connection DatabaseVendor Code: 12545'.
What can cause this to occur when testing on my development system?
This error can occur for a couple of reasons. If Clarity is submitting the report to Business Objects (BO), make sure that the Clarity NSA UI server, database definitions are synchronized with tnsnames.ora parms and the BO report database connection definition.
Below are other items that may need to be checked.
- Making sure that your listener is running (lsnrcrl stat)
- Testing connectivity with 'ping' and 'tnsping' commands
- Verifying connectivity via the DNS (e.g. /etc/hosts)
- Making sure to check your tnsnames.ora parms
