Description:

What is causing 'TRACWARN - JOB jobname STEP=N/A ABENDED CODE=PURGE VERS=nnnn.nnnn'?

Solution:

When jobs are submitted on one system and run on a different system in the sysplex, it is possible for the running system to attempt to post the JOBINIT event record before the job number has been set in the record. This can result in the ENF JOBINIT event record, or the CA Jobtrac JM status not being posted for the job. A new parameter in JOBTRA00 member of CA Jobtrac Parmlib is introduced with PTF RO10630 'MONITORDELAY=nnnn', to delay the update of the ENF JOBINIT event record to the CA Jobtrac JM MONITOR System to allow the job number to be set. The value is in 1/100th of a second.

The 'PRGDEFER=nn' parameter will also need to be used to delay purging of the event before the status is updated. These parameters do not need to be changed unless you are having problems with jobs that run on a Monitor system showing as:

Purged in CA Jobtrac 'TRACWARN - JOB jobname STEP=N/A ABENDED CODE=PURGE VERS=nnnn.nnnn'

We recommend the following:

MONITORDELAY=0300 IF MONITOR CAN'T FIND JOB WAIT 3 SECS
PRGDEFER=60 DELAY PURGE FOR 60 SECS

These two parameters will need to be set in CA Jobtrac PPoption library member.

JOBTRA00 and will require PTFs RO10630 and RO06411.
