When you're having problems uninstalling CA Business Intelligence despite following instructions as per documentation

Description

The CA Business Intelligence is a big application with several components/services. Sometimes it does not uninstall/ remove those component properly and re-installation becomes difficult.

Solution

IMPORTANT: This article contains information about modifying the registry.
Before you modify the registry, make sure to create back up of the registry and ensure that you understand how to restore the registry if a problem may occur.
For more information about how to back up, restore, and edit the registry, please review the relevant Microsoft Knowledge Base articles on support.microsoft.com.

First of all we have to ensure we followed the CA Business Intelligence Installation Guide, Chapter-3, Section: Uninstall from Microsoft Windows.

If that does not help then we can review and try the following:

Business Objects "Uninstall Procedure (manual)"

  1. Uninstall for FP3.3:

    msiexec /X{4A341824-8433-42C1-8977-A8594934AC1C} REBOOT=ReallySuppress /qn

  2. Uninstall for SP3:

    msiexec /x{73FE5725-19F5-4205-87CA-30802A3E005F} REBOOT=ReallySuppress /qn

  3. Uninstall for SP2 (the core install):

    msiexec /x {1FF06B85-EB4F-400D-8602-30A1DD48673B}

  4. Delete the installation directory

    <install location>\CommonReporting>

    The default location is c:\Program Files\CA\SC\CommonReporting

  5. Delete the following registry entries if they exist:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\Shared\CommonReporting
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BusinessObjects

NOTE: Above is strictly for the installation applicable for CA Business Intelligence bundled with R12.0 GA version. And you need to follow exact same order of bullets as mentioned.
