Introduction:

When NetMaster is started up with parm SEC=PARTSAF, each userID in NetMaster has its password validated by the Security System during the logon. Depending on the definition of the user in UAMS, the logon will be accepted or rejected.

Question:

When using a PARTSAF exit in NetMaster, must a userID be created previously in UAMS, before the PARTSAF can validate  its password with the security product?

Answer:

If the user is known (i.e.: userID defined in UAMS), then the userID and password will be passed to the security system for a validation.

If the user is not known (i.e. : the userID is not defined in UAMS), and the model user is not enabled, then the logon   will be rejected with message N20E01 USERID xxxxxxxx IS NOT KNOWN, RE-ENTER OR LOGOFF.

This can be avoided by setting up a model name via SYSPARMS MODLUSER command referencing a known userID as a mod-el. This has the effect to automatically create a profile in UAMS based on the model definition. Once the userID and password are accepted by the security system, an user details screen will be presented to set general information about the user.

When the logon is completed, the User Details in UAMS contain the name of the Model User ID.
