After doing an IPL a CA Symdump Batch upgrade from R 8.5 to r 9.1 fails during the CAIRIM initialization step with error messages CAPC032E CA SYMDUMP BATCH RTL INITIALIZATION FAILED and CAPE001E CAOESQAT NOT FOUND - INITIALIZATION INCOMPLETE.
The cause of the problem points to common services. Release 11 of common services CAIRIM has known problems loading modules from PDSE load libraries into the system CSA. When you start CA Symdump batch modules are loaded into the CSA. Support for R 11 of common services expired 9-30-2012. PDSE support was added to common services in release r 12 which support also expired for 9-30-2013. The latest supported release of common services is r 14.1.
Create a regular PDS load library and copy the CA Symdump Batch load modules from the current CARXLOAD PDSE to the regular PDS. Then IPL the LPAR and start CA Symdump Batch r 9.1 pointing to the regular PDS load library.
You can use the following DCB to allocate the regular PDS load library. file
//CARXLOAD DD DSN=SYMBAT91.GA.CARXLOAD,
