Description:

The command pdm_extract cannot be executed with the following error even if Service Desk is installed after Windows 8.3 file notation is enabled.

"'F:\Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." appears.

"%WINDIR%\paradigm.ini" file shows the following.

e.g.

NX_ROOT=F:/Program Files(x86)/CA/SERVIC~1

Solution:

The problem would occur if Service Desk is installed to a local drive other than C drive and "Program Files(x86)" folder on the drive is created by another 32bit application before Windows 8.3 file notation is enabled. For example, 32bit SQL client is installed before Windows 8.3 file notation is enabled. As a result SQL Client installation creates "Program Files(x86)" folder without 8.3 file name.

You may need to reinstall Service Desk to another folder or reinstall both applications, Service Desk and the one that creates the "Program Files(x86)" folder.
