Issue:

When executing IDMSDBN2, can SYS002 be assigned to TAPE versus disk?

We are attempting to execute a DBAN process against an area that in DBN2 gets an x37 abend on SYS002. We have tried several iterations of the job, increasing the allocation for SYS002, but we cannot seem to get past the 37 abend. We have changed SYS002 to be a tape file and the job runs for a period of time but then abends with a S7CE abend.

IECTMS3 DDD, bbbbbb IS NOT SCRATCH(XX)

where XX is 64 Trying to recreate a data set with DISP=NEW

Cause:

IDMSDBN2 reuses the SYS002 dataset numerous times. It will write information to it, close it, reread that information, and potentially repeat that process.

Resolution:

Pre-allocating the tape file for use as SYS002 by IDMSDBN2 worked.
