Issue:

When execute a COM proxy operation to a Gen server procedure step, instead of seeing the expected data, this message is received:

424 :: Object required

Environment:
CA GEN 8.x
Cause:

The message has been reported a few times and possible root causes are:

  • the executed COM proxy is out of step with the server version currently deployed causing a view match problem.
  • the COM proxy & server code had been generated for a server procedure step with consistency check warnings relating to an export view exceeding the 32k limit
Resolution:

After the COM proxy cm and ax dlls were unregistered and re-registered the problem was resolved.  Root cause therefore appears to be that COM proxy was out of step with the deployed server, resulting in probable view match problem which resulted in the error.
