Problem:

When attempting to apply a CA Business Intelligence (CABI) Service Pack, the following error is received: " Failed creating the process. Return value = 16025"

Environment:

CABI 3.3 --> Servicepack 1

Cause:

1. not logged into CABI server with administrator rights.

2. biekpatch.exe not started with "Run as Administrator" rights.

3. not enough disk space (minimum 5GB)

4. Administrator password contains special characters (@,#,!...)

Resolution:

Initially, please verify the following:

  1. Are you logged into the CABI server with administrator rights?
  2. Did you launch the BIEKPATCH program with 'Run as Administrator'?
  3. How much free disk space is on the drive where CABI is installed - you will need at 5GB free for the install to work properly.
  4. Did you get to the point to enter the CABI Administrator password? If so, does the CABI Administrator password contain any special characters (i.e. @, #, !)? If YES, temporarily change the CABI Administrator password via the Central Management Console (CMC) so that it does not contain any special characters.

If none of the above resolve the issue, check for the existence of these two (2) files on the CABI server
