Introduction:
Multiple products can be added as a datasource (DS) in CA Performance Center.
This allows CAPC to gather information about devices monitored in those products and to reconcile the information from multiple sources into on view.
Network Flow Analysis (NFA) is one of those products.
Question:
What would trigger a full synch on the NFA datasource in CAPC?
Environment:
CAPC 3.x
Answer:

  1. When you first add the ds it will perform a full synch.

  1. When you manually request a full synch.

  1. If the datasource values for NpcIncrementTime/BaseTime  don't match what we have in data_source_sync.

on CAPC in the mysql database netqosportal there is a table called data_source_sync.

mysql> desc data_source_sync;

+-------------------+------------------+------+-----+---------+-------+

| Field                          | Type                     | Null | Key | Default | Extra |

+-------------------+------------------+------+-----+---------+-------+

| SourceID                  | int(10) unsigned | NO   | PRI | NULL     |           |

| Direction                  | varchar(8)            | NO   | PRI | NULL    |            |

| IncrementOn           | int(10) unsigned | NO   |       | 0            |            |

| IncrementEnd         | int(10) unsigned | NO   |        | 0           |            |

| BaseOn                     | int(10) unsigned | NO   |        | 0           |            |

| FullSyncRequested | enum('N','Y')       | NO   |        | N           |            |

+-------------------+------------------+------+-----+---------+-------+

The table data_source_sync stores the last time it PULL/PUSH with timestamps.

These are meant to be stored by the data source in their local database.

So when pull is initiated, they send these values and if they don't match up, a full synch is requested.

Possible reasons these values would not match: because maybe an old DB was restored or something.
