Introduction:

New feature in CA TLMS 12.6 sends CAT9998E when missing OSI are detected.

This feature runs a quick verification of all CA TLMS intercepts each time a tape is mounted for output. The verification immediately alerts your data center if CA TLMS intercepts are missing.

CA TLMS intercepts are page fixed to prevent their loss due to page refresh. Intercepts are sometimes lost due to page free errors from other products and vendors. A delay in realizing that there is a problem makes it difficult to determine the cause of the missing intercepts. While the intercepts are missing, CA TLMS is not correctly processing tape access or recording all the information.

The error messages that will be produced are:

CAT9998E
CA TLMS INTERCEPT TABLE NOT FOUND. TAPE INTERCEPTS ARE NOT ACTIVE! TAPES
ARE NOT BEING PROTECTED AND TAPE ACTIVITY WILL NOT BE RECORDED.

Reason:

While processing a tape job, CA TLMS detected that its Intercept table was missing. This is a severe error and CA TLMS is not able to record data about the tapes.

Action:

Stop all tape jobs. Run CAS9 for TLMS with "REINIT,OSI=YES".

CAT9999E
CA TLMS HAS DETECTED THAT ONE OR MORE TAPE INTERCEPTS ARE NOT ACTIVE!
TAPES MAY NOT BE PROTECTED AND TAPE ACTIVITY MAY NOT BE RECORDED.

Reason:

While processing a tape job, CA TLMS detected that one or more intercepts were missing. This is a severe error and TLMS is not able to record data about the tapes being processed.

Action:

Stop all tape jobs. Run CAS9 for CA TLMS with "REINIT,OSI=YES".

What should be done when receiving these messages?

Instructions:

One solution could be to trap these error messages via a WTO intercept application(CA-Opera) to alert you and the staff of an issue and eventually submit a script that will reinitialize TLMS via CAS9 with PARM(REINIT,OSI=RESINIT) and then start TLMS.
