What to do if the NX.env file becomes unreadable, (for example, it contains many unicode characters)?

In rare situations, the NX.env file may become unreadable after SDM/CMDB configuration, even though the application runs fine.

If you open the file in notepad or wordpad, you will see some Asian characters in the file. This technical doc provides a way to restore the file.


NX.env file is the Service Desk/CMDB operation configuration file and once this file becomes unreadable, administrators can't manage it to re-configure some features anymore.

  1. Open the NX.env_nt.tpl file in the <Service Desk Manager installation directory>\pdmconf\ folder and save it as ANSI format.
  2. Next, rename the NX.env file in the in the <Service Desk Manager installation directory> folder to backup_NX.txt.
  3. Run pdm_configure as the system administrator and after that the NX.env file should be restored.
