Microsoft SQL Server - All Versions

Note: This document does not apply to Oracle based database installations.

Answer:

Client Automation r14.x:

- ca_itrm
This is the core Client Automation account, used by CAF plugins and the DSM Explorer/Reporter to connect to the database.

- ca_itrm_ams
This account is used by the Asset Maintenance System (the common asset viewer), which is a part of the Web Services functionality.

- cicuser
This account is used by the Content Import Client, which is responsible for contacting the CA Content Server and maintaining updated software signatures, intellisigs, manufacturers and available patches/patch rollups if the Patch Manager feature is installed.

- nsmadmin
This account is used by the CA Common Services (CCS) feature set.

In addition to all the above accounts, Client Automation r12.x may use:

- upmadmin & upmuser
These accounts are used by legacy CA Patch Manager, versions 12.9 and older.  In r14, the Patch Manager feature uses the ca_itrm account.

- aiowner & aiuser
These accounts are used by legacy CA Asset Intelligence, versions 12.9 and older.  Asset Intelligence is now deprecated as of version r14.
