What permission is required to create a new Configuration Item (CI) by GRLoader?

Question:

When an Analyst user tries to create new Configuration Items (CIs) or update existing ones by GRLoader, an error message:

         <!--ERROR: Unable to locate ID (null)-->

will be written in <file_name>_err.xml file. What permission is required to create a new CI by GRLoader?

Answer:

In order to add new CIs or update existing ones by GRLoader, you need to set 'SOAP Web Service API Role' in a specified Access Type to an administrator Role, such as "Administrator" or "Configuration Administrator". You can check and specify it as shown below. 

 

  1. Log into Service Desk using Administrator account. 

  2. Go to 'Security and Role Management' > 'Access Type' and open an Access Type specified to the user.

  3. Click on <Edit> button on Access Type Detail screen. 

  4. Open 'Role' tab and change the 'SOAP Web Service API Role' to "Administrator".

  5. Click on <Save> button to save the change.
