Question:

What is the process for expanding the Recovery File (RECFILE)? The message TSS9011W RECOVERY FILE WRAPPED AROUND was recently received.

Answer:

Allocate a new recovery file using the TSSMAINR job from the CA Top Secret SAMPJCL library.
Change the CA Top Secret startup proc to point to the newly allocated recovery file.
Do a temporary shutdown and restart of CA Top Secret to pick up the new file.
The size of the recovery file may not need to be increased. The recovery file is designed mainly to hold changes to the primary security file between backups. So if the security file is backed up daily and the recovery file wraps once a week (or longer), there really isn't a need to increase the size of the recovery file.

The recovery file is a wrap around file, meaning when the file fills up, the new records are written at the beginning of the file, overlaying the old records one at a time. When the file does wrap, a TSS9011W RECOVERY FILE WRAPPED AROUND message is issued.
