The F&T/W View File Interface allows you to query the results of views in another view file (*.FTV), or backup view file (*.FTB).
When you use the View File Interface, a view file is regarded as a database and, like the Active Views interface, each view in a view file is treated as a table consisting of columns that correspond to the columns in the view file. The View File interface can be used for many of the same purposes at the Active Views interface: refining or manipulating "staged" data, joining and unioning data from different data sources, and so on.
NOTE: The View File interface can be used to query view files that are in the same file format as that supported by the current version of F&T; view files created with older version of F&T must be converted before they can be queried. Although you can use the View File interface to query views in the current open view file, the interface will return the last saved results of those views - not their current results if they have changed since the view file was opened. To capture current results, use either the F&T/W Active Views interface or the F&T/W Database Integrator Interface.
