A weekly backup job ended with two different return codes for the same data set.
One week, the job had this message: 3525 and ended with RC=04.
The next week, the job had this message: 2546 and ended with RC=08.
We do not understand why the message text was different for the same dataset.
Can you explain, please?
The differences in the two runs is this:
M3525 - No data sets were selected during DSCL selection.
The only data sets found are cataloged to the CA Disk pseudo-volume.
M2546 - There were no entries found in the catalog, not even
pseudo-vol entries for ARCIVEd data sets.
For the M3525, these is a Sysparm that you could specify:
N – (Default) Cond. Code not reduced.
Y - If a FIND command can locate no data sets to process (M3525), CC 4 is reduced to a 0.
See Sysparms CCDRESET and SMSLOWRC for other options to affect return codes.
