Question:

What is the difference between a machine status of Missing vs Offline ?

Environment:
Product: Workload Automation AE 11.xPlatform: Windows, UNIX, LinuxDatabase: Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL
Answer:

Missing

Indicates that, during proactive monitoring of machines, the Scheduler determined that the machine is not available (for example, due to a crash). AutoSys will try to contact a missing machine once every 60 seconds to see if it is available and can be placed back ONLINE.

Offline
Indicates that an EXEC super user used sendevent to take the machine OFFLINE.
Example: sendevent -E MACH_OFF_LINE -N host1
AutoSys assumes if it was placed OFFLINE by an EXEC super user for logical reason and therefore will NOT try to contact it until an EXEC super user places it back ONLINE manually.
