Question:

What is causing ICSCERRP99E "0052" IS AN INVALID PF/PA VALUE errors seen in our CICS TP region where CA Ideal is running?

Environment:
z/OSCICS/TS
Answer:

The internal error message "0052" IS AN INVALID PF/PA VALUE" means that the CA Ideal environment is allowing for none or only one PA key and a user hit the PA2 key.

To address this, use the CA Ideal command SET COMMAND SITE to check the value in your IDEAL environment for "Maximum number of PA keys:".

This site had limited the PA keys to 1 so any time PA2 was hit, the error occurred.

If set to 2, 3, or to the recommended maximum value 4, then hitting PA2 key will not produce the internal error message.

Additional Information:

Note, the default action for the PA keys in IDEAL is the following:

   PA1 = Refresh Screen PA2 = Display PF/PA Key

Refer to CA Ideal for CA Datacom Administration Guide Version 15.00 section "Session Control Facility Options" for SET COMMAND SITE
