Question:

What files/directories should be owned by the mysql user on CA Performance Management

Answer:

Starting in the top level MySql directory all files are owned by root.

The following directories under MySql are owned by mysql:

drwxrwxr-x. 7 mysql mysql 4096 Dec 4 06:16 ./data
drwxr-x---. 2 mysql mysql 36864 Dec 4 06:42 ./data/em
drwxr-x---. 2 mysql mysql 4096 Sep 6 09:31 ./data/mysql
drwxr-x---. 2 mysql mysql 24576 Dec 4 06:42 ./data/netqosportal
drwxr-x---. 2 mysql mysql 4096 Sep 6 09:31 ./data/performance_schema
drwxr-x---. 2 mysql mysql 12288 Sep 6 09:31 ./data/sys
drwxrwxr-x. 2 mysql root 4096 Dec 4 06:42 ./tmp

All files under thise directories are owned by mysql except:

-rw-rw----. 1 root root 5 Dec 4 06:16 ./data/mysqld_safe.pid

Which would be re-written by the mysqld_safe process which runs as root.

CAPC should be backed up and all CAPC/MySQL processes stopped before making any permission changes:
