What does UseEncryption=0 mean?

Description:

When Autosys has to schedule jobs on legacy agents ( Release 451 or 11.0 SP5), option UseEncryption has to be set in $AUTOUSER/config.$AUTOSERV

Does it mean there is no encryption at all

Solution:

With UseEncryption=0, AutoSys uses the encryption similar to r11. i.e. DES.
This resets from using the strong customized password encryption (AES) to DES (which is also strong but not as strong as AES password protected).

This mean that DES encryption will be used between

  1. Client and as_server

  2. Agent and as_server

  3. Scheduler to r11 agents

11.3 Agents still uses custom key security (or default AES key) that the manager sends to the agent as part of job information.
So there is no lowering of security as far as Scheduler to 11.3 Agent is concerned as the Agents are controlled by key_to_agent in machinedefinition.

For the WCC, encryption has to be set to NONE as well because it will be communication with the Application Server with DES encryption
Same encryption option has to be set in all Autosys configuration files ( scheduler/application server, Autosys clients, WCC)
