What do I do if System Performance Lite or RTAgent is consuming high CPU or memory ?

Introduction:

System Performance Lite or RTAgent collects information about Memory and CPU usage,

but it is a snapshot at the time and running the plugin uses CPU and memory,

so the values are off. This has been removed out of later version of the product,

but if you upgrade, that plugin will still be installed.

Question:

What do I do if System Performance Lite or RTAgent is consuming  high CPU or Memory ?

Environment:
CA Client Automation - All Versions before Sp1
Answer:

System Performance Lite Agent or RTAgent collects information about Memory and CPU usage,

but it is a snapshot at the time and running the plugin uses CPU and memory, so the values are off.

This has been removed out of later version of the product,

but might still be there if you have upgraded from an older version.

 

The plugin can cause the CPU is driven up to 100% on the RtaAgent.exe process.

We recommend just stopping and disabling the Service.

 

For one Agent : 

Go to Windows Services (services.msc)

Stop and Disable the "CA Systems Performance LiteAgent".

Kill the RtaAgent.exe process in task manager if still running.

 

From many Agents:

Create an Software Delivery batch job that runs the following commands:

 

sc stop CASPLiteAgent                                                          - this will stop the service

sc config CASPLiteAgent start= disabled                                 - this will disable the service.
