Description:

When read only functions to the M4LIB are requested users are baffled by access abends issued by security products like ACF2.

Solution:

Users expect to be able to perform read-only operations such as listing functions against the M4LIB. They were surprised to receive a S913 abend and the following errors from ACF2:

      ACF99913 ACF2 VIOLATION-04
ACF90913 -DATASET CANNOT BE OPENED; AUTHORIZATION IS REQUIRED.

Though listing commands such as LISTLIB only require read-only access, it is possible to combine commands, so the library is opened for update in anticipation of that type of activity.

APAR BL00112 was developed to allow the M4LIB to be opened for read only access when listing operations such as LISTLIB are performed. When this is applied there is the restriction that listing operations may not be combined with library update functions.

Please open an issue to request it if this customizing APAR is desired.
