The problem in this case was tracked down to a entry in the oracle client tnsnames.ora file.
The SID that was setup in the oracle client had the following entries in it.
Example of expected Configuration:
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = servername.domain.com)(PORT = 1521))
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = ORACONNECT)
Once this was corrected and then the following had to be done
1) clear the local niscache directory for the oracle probe
2) do a discovery reset for the device that was showing 2 DNS names.
