Symptom:

During the installation of WCC with Oracle database, the installation stopped with error:

2016-06-07 13:21:47 : DatabaseUtil:: Substitute on $WCC_TNSNamesFilePath$ yields </Oracle/app/oracle/product/client112/Client_2/network/admin/tnsnames.ora>
2016-06-07 13:21:47 : DatabaseUtil:: Generated URL = jdbc:ca:oracle:TNSNamesFile=/Oracle/app/oracle/product/client112/Client_2/network/admin/tnsnames.ora;TNSServerName=WCC
2016-06-07 13:21:47 : DatabaseUtil:: getSelectedDBConnectionString - Return
2016-06-07 13:21:57 : DatabaseUtil:: [CA][Oracle JDBC Driver]Login has timed out.

Environment:

WCC 11.4 SP1 on Linux with Oracle external database

Cause:

Oracle SID for this WCC  installation was WCC

In the tnsnames.ora file, there were two entries:

The first one with “WCC.world”

The second one with  “WCC”

For example:

WCC.world=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.world)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(Host=xxx)(Port=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=WCC)))

WCC=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.world)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(Host=xxx)(Port=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=WCC)))

Solution:

Remove the “WCC.world” entry from the tnsnames.ora

Additional Information:

If for whatever reason both entries are required, the tnsnames.ora file can be copied at another location to only keep the entry without .world

For example in /opt/CA/WorkloadCC
