Issue:

Executing the CA Workload Automation AE installation script "wa_setup.sh" yields the following error:

./wa_setup.sh: line 838: </path/to/WAAE_install_media>/Linux/wa_self: cannot execute binary file: Exec formation error

Example:
WAAE installation error
Environment:
CA Workload Automation AE 11.3.6+
All supported Linux Operating Systems.
Cause:
The foremost cause of the aforementioned error is either the install media is incomplete, for example, the wa_self file is empty (size 0), or the format (Binary Vs ASCII/text) of the files are incorrect.

This error could also result from missing 32bit system packages/libraries such as glibc,  libstdc++.so.5 and libstdc++.so.6, libgcc_s.so.1, etc.
Resolution:

If you extract/uncompress the installer (DVD*.iso) file on a different system (Windows PC) and transfer (FTP/WinSCP/FileZilla) over to the target Linux system, then ensure that "binary" mode is used. Also ensure that there is enough space available on the target system to receive the complete installation package.

Secondly, ensure all prerequisite system packages listed in the WAAE Release notes are available on the Linux system.

Note: The foregoing URL does not mention 32bit libgcc, however missing /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 library could lead to this problem.
