[VMTP] Upgrade to VMTP 11 breaks data collection

Issue:

After upgrading the Multi-Port Monitor from 10.6 to 11.0, we are no longer able to collect data.

Looking at the logging we see the following:

nqnapacapd_<date>.log (Administration -> System Logs -> 'Generate')

v11DefectPic1.PNG

supportinfo.log (/opt/napatech3/bin/supportinfo)

v11DefectPic2.PNG

Environment:
CentOS 6.7+
Cause:

In VMTP 11.0, we migrated our code to run the latest 3G version of Napatech’s API. It turns out that the 3G API, driver, and service are not compatible with all firmware versions out there. This is especially true for older MTP installations, whose firmware has never been updated. Past MTP releases would provide updated firmware to the manufacturer to install on cards but upgrading the firmware was never part of the MTP software update code.

Resolution:

This issue will be fixed in v11.1 of the Virtual Multi-Port Monitor software.

In the meantime, please contact CA Support for a link to the latest firmware patching script and packages.
