Issue:

The robot deployment appears to be taking a very long time and eventually fails.

Environment:

Unified Infrastructure Management (UIM) 8.4 and above.

Automated Deployment Engine 8.4 and above.

Cause:

This is the minimal amount of configuration required to create the jcifs file. The jcifs file sets overrides defaults within the ADE probe that specify how to resolve addresses, connect to machines and sets associated timeout values. This is an ideal starting point in resolving robot mass deployment issues.

Resolution:

  1. Deactivate Automated_Deployment_Engine (ADE)
  2. Create a new file in the ADE folder labelled jcifs.prp
  3. In the jcifs.prp, copy and paste the below configuration.
    jcifs.smb.client.connTimeout=60000
    jcifs.smb.client.responseTimeout=60000
    jcifs.smb.client.soTimeout=4000
    jcifs.smb.client.dfs.disabled=true
    jcifs.smb.netbios.soTimeout=10000
    jcifs.netbios.retryTimeout=9000
    jcifs.netbios.retryCount=5
    jcifs.resolveOrder=DNS
  4. Reactivate ADE
  5. Attempt to redeploy the robots
