Question:

Usage of Research Tool in 14.1.03 xFlow interface launches browser search against google.co.in website.  Is there a way to configure this to use www.google.com instead?

Answer:

1) If IIS is being used for xFlow - identify the casm.conf.js file from xFlow website's <website_directory>\conf\casm.conf.js directory. Default location is: C:\Program Files\CA\xFlow\APPS\UI\IISWebsite\conf

NOTE: If you are using  Apache web server for xFlow, the file is different. C:\Program Files\CA\xFlow\APPS\UI\Apache24\htdocs\conf\casm.conf.do-not-change.js

2) Take a backup of that file first

3) Edit the file casm.conf.js and add a new entry  (NOTE:  If you are using Apache web server for xFlow, the file is casm.conf.do-not-change.js and follow below steps in that file)

        researchTool:{

            url:"http://www.google.com",

            storeURLs: {

            firefox: 'https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/',

            chrome: 'https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions',

            safari: 'https://safari-extensions.apple.com/'

            }

        },

The file should now look like this (note: below example shows that the SDM Server name is  SDMServerName.  So, do not copy the below content as is to your casm.conf.js file. Instead modify your file to add the needed entry to make it look like below.

/*

 Application level global parameters. Admin is allowed to update this file. For syntax reference refer casm.conf.do-notchange.js

 NOTE: Don't keep any sensitive information.

 */

var casm_admin = {

    config: {

        api : {

            server : 'http://SDMServerName:9004'

        },

        search : {

            server : 'http://SDMServerName:9006'

        },

        sdm : {

            server : 'http://SDMServerName:80/CAisd/pdmweb.exe' // - example:http://sdmurl:8080/CAisd/pdmweb.exe

        },

        websocket : {

            server : 'ws://SDMServerName:9008'

        },

        researchTool:{

            url:"http://www.google.com",

            storeURLs: {

            firefox: 'https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/',

            chrome: 'https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions',

            safari: 'https://safari-extensions.apple.com/'

            }

        },

        locale:'en-US'

    }

};

4) Save the file

5) Restart xFlow Server.

Now the Research Tool usage with in xFlow will result in searches against www.google.com  instead of google.co.in that we saw previously.
