What's the best strategy for upgrading PMO from 4.3 to 4.4 and converting from PMO/XSYS to PMO/XCF?
A good Best Practice would be to leave each system on XSYS ONLY until all have been upgraded from 4.3 to 4.4. After all systems have been used for some time (maybe through a monthly maintenance window), then all should be converted to XCF simultaneously.
Simultaneous conversion to XCF is not required, but all systems should be done as close together as possible.
The advantages of doing the release upgrade and the XSYS upgrade separately are that:
- If anything goes wrong, it will be easier to isolate the cause and easier to back out if necessary.
- It will simplify the upgrade process.
- For some customers, this will shorten the time when systems are on different protocols.
