Question:

How do I update the database password in CA Advanced Authentication?

Answer:

When you first install CA Advanced Authentication you are asked for the DB User Name and password. Should you during installation put in the wrong password, or change the password in the future, we have a tool that will help you change that packaged with the product.

 For Windows-

1.       Open a command prompt with administrative rights

2.       Cd to [ARCOT_HOME]\tools\win

3.       Run dbutil –pu <DatabaseDSN> <DBPassword>

4. Run dbutil –pu <DatabaseUsername> <DBPassword>

·         Depending on what is in your securestore.enc file you may need to use the –pi command which will input. –pu will update. For instance, if you changed the DatabaseDSN or username, you will need to use the –pi command.

For Linux

1.       Open terminal

2.       Cd to [ARCOT_HOME]arcot/tools/<platform_name>

3.       Run dbutil –pu <DatabaseDSN> <DBPassword>

4.   Run dbutil –pu <DatabaseUsername> <DBPassword>

·         Depending on what is in your securestore.enc file you may need to use the –pi command which will input. –pu will update. For instance, if you changed the DatabaseDSN or username, you will need to use the –pi command.

Additional Information:

Often times, clients will want use the same username for different databases, which is why when updating the password the dbutil links it to the DatabaseDSN from the arcotcommon.ini and not the username.
