When trying to start the Ingres service an error occurs. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
This problem is usually due to a corrupt or missing symbol.tbl file. Navigate to the d ingres\files directory i.e. Program Files\CA\Ingres [EI]\ingres\files.
- Verify that the symbol.tbl file is different from the symbol.bak file or missing completely
- Delete the symbol.tbl file
- Rename the symbol.bak to symbol.tbl
- Start the Ingres Intelligent Database Service
- Start the eTrust Directory - iTechPoz services
- A new symbol.bak should have been created in the files directory
