Issue:
Unable to Start AutomationEngine (Server) Processes (....cannot continue as the number of server lic
Resolution:
Detailed Description and Symptoms

1) A Single server or Multi-server configuration is installed.

2) When attempting to start AutomationEngine processes via ServiceManager or manually, the processes start then end immediately with messages similar to these appearing in the log files:

U0034004 The 'CP' 'Automic#CP00x' with IP address: '1.20.3.10' port: '09999' cannot continue as the number of server licenses for 'Xxxxxxx' are exhausted.

U0034004 The 'WP' 'Automic#WP00x' with IP address: '1.20.3.10' port: '09999' cannot continue as the number of server licenses for 'Xxxxxxx' are exhausted.

3) The needed additional license(s) have been loaded to the AE database using the Automic Utilities and are available for use (confirmed via SystemOverview).

Investigation

One possible cause for this issue is one or more of the hosts has multiple IP addresses.  Here are two alternatives for further investigation:

A) Using the appropriate method, determine if the host (or any of the hosts in the multi-server configuration) has more than one IP address configured.

B) Examine the server log files for multiple IP addresses in these messages:

-> U0003488 Server 'WP' was started as instance '7'.
    U0003490 Connection to '1.10.3.12:2217' initiated, client connection '1(1)'
    U0003490 Connection to '1.10.3.13:2222' initiated, client connection '2(2)'
    U0003490 Connection to '1.10.3.12:2218' initiated, client connection '3(3)'
    U0003490 Connection to '1.10.3.12:2219' initiated, client connection '4(4)'
    U0003490 Connection to '1.10.3.13:2220' initiated, client connection '5(5)'
    U0003490 Connection to '1.10.3.13:2221' initiated, client connection '6(6)'
    U0003490 Connection to '1.10.3.12:2270' initiated, client connection '7(7)'

-> U0034004 The 'WP' 'Automic#WP007' with IP address: '1.10.3.18' port: '02277' cannot continue as the number of server licenses for 'Windows' are exhausted.

Solution

For the AutomationEngine to function correctly (Single or multi-server configuration) all work processes, including the primary work process must be bound to the same IP address on a host.

Here is an example for a multi-server configuration:

Two hosts, HostX and HostY, with multiple IP addresses are used for the multi-server configuration.  The adjustments/entries similar to the following should be made to the 'ucsrv.ini' file on the individual hosts:

(HostX)
[TCP/IP]
; Primary Port for WP
pwpport=10.20.30.120:2270
------------
[PORTS]
cp1=10.20.30.120:2217
cp2=10.20.30.120:2218
;cp3=10.20.30.120:2219
;cp4=10.20.30.120:2220
wp1=10.20.30.120:2271
wp2=10.20.30.120:2272
wp3=10.20.30.120:2273

;wp4=10.20.30.120:2274
;wp5=10.20.30.120:2275
;wp6=10.20.30.120:2276

(HostY)
[TCP/IP]
; Primary Port for WP
pwpport=10.20.30.122:2270
-------------
[PORTS]
;cp1=10.20.30.122:2217
;cp2=10.20.30.122:2218
cp3=10.20.30.122:2219
cp4=10.20.30.122:2220
;wp1=10.20.30.122:2271
;wp2=10.20.30.122:2272
;wp3=10.20.30.122:2273
wp4=10.20.30.122:2274
wp5=10.20.30.122:2275
wp6=10.20.30.122:2276

Another alternative is to use the "bindaddr=" parameter (see documentation for details).
