Introduction:

In OasisConfig.properties file of ITPAM installation, we can see:

***************************************
# server.xml in jbossweb.sar
#***************************************
#Defines the port for the connector component that supports the HTTP/1.1 protocol. This property enables Catalina to function as a stand-alone web server, in addition to its ability to run servlets and JSP pages. The Port is also configured in jboss-ws4ee.sar/META-INF/jboss-service.xml for Axis SService.
tomcat.connector.http.port=8080
#Defines the port for the connector component that communicates with a web connector through the AJP protocol.
tomcat.connector.ajp.port=8009
#Defines the secure port that the SSL connector uses. This port is unused. This port is the same port that is configured as:
#>>redirectPort for the AJP connector in server.xml
#>>WebServiceSecurePort for Axis Service in jboss-ws4ee.sar/META-INF/jboss-service.xml
#The port is of use only if the SSL connector is enabled.
tomcat.secure.port=8443

Question:

When trying to login ITPAM using http://itpamserver:8080/itpam/

The following message is displayed:
HTTP Status 404 - [F]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
type Status report
message [F]
description The requested resource ([F]) is not available.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JBoss Web/2.1.3.GA

We are able to log on to PAM on https + port 8443

https://itpamserver:8443/itpam/

Is it possible to login using either http or https ?

Answer:

You can login using one protocol only.

This is by design, installing Process Automation as Secure will disable the non secure access across port 8080 even though the configuration settings remain in the oasisconfig file.

If you want process automation to run on HTTP , you can rerun the installer and uncheck the Use Secure Communications option.
