Unable to configure certain CA Service Desk Manager (CA SDM) options via OPTIONS MANAGER.

For example, attempting to install the AREA_DEFAULTS option from ADMINISTRATION-> OPTIONS MANAGER-> REQUEST_MGR results in the following error:

Solution:

When configuring certain CA SDM options, the CA SDM application reads OOTB files from the NX_ROOT\bopcfg\options directory.

If this folder does not exist or the necessary files not present, then Options Manager will not function correctly.

NOTE: As a best practice, it is not advisable to modify OOTB files in the NX_ROOT\bopcfg\options directory.

A known 'good copy' of the NX_ROOT\bopcfg\options directory needs to be restored from one of the following methods:

  1. NX_ROOT\bopcfg\options directory File System backup/restore

  2. Copy from a working CA SDM environment at the SAME release and patch level

  3. Contact CA Support and open a support issue
