UMP login hangs for certain user

After some changes to the associated usergroup in liferay, the associated user login hangs.
Customer exported userpages in liferay and imported them to the usergroup.
Afterwards he is unable to access the usergroup definition and users having that usergroup associated are hanging during login to UMP.
UIM 8.5 
We did the following steps to resolve this:
  • We identified the usergroup having the problem and searched for that in the database:
select * from UserGroup
  • took note of the UserGroupID
select * from UserGroup where UserGroupID = <nnnnn>
  • deleted the entry in the usergroup table which was causing the problem
delete  from UserGroup where UserGroupID = <nnnnn>
Afterwards customer was able to configure usergroup again and the UMP user was able to login.
