Question:

The description of message TSS9012W RECOVERY FILE IS AT LEAST 90% FULL indicates that once the recovery file reaches 90% full, it will be issued again after a restart of TSS until the file wraps. Since first hitting 90%, the TSS9012W message has occurred after each IPL (before the recovery file has wrapped), however, it did not occur until sometime after CA Top Secret finished starting. Why?

Answer:

After an IPl, the value for the recovery file will be reset to 0% (temporarily) until 1 record gets written to the recovery file: ie via a TSS cmd that changes the security file, a password change etc. At that point, CA Top Secret will calculate what % of the file is full, and update the RECFILE % value accordingly.
