Introductions/Summary:

When trying to query files that have been archived from another user's SFS directory, message VMAQUE0212E is received.

VMARCH Q FILES * * (owner SYSVPROD source SFS001:SYSVPROD

results in

VMAQUE0212E No files found that meet the selection criteria.
Ready(00212).

This error is received when different authorized users try to list or query files that have been archived from user SYSVPROD's directory, SFS001:SYSVPROD.

Instructions:

We found that the files for SYSVPROD were archived when SYSVPROD was part of GROUP PUBLIC. That is the group association for the files for this user for that SFS directory. When you change a user from one group to another, the files they archived before the change are not changed to the new group. To make the files archived by the user that has a group change associated to the new group, you must reassign the files.

Example:

VMARCH REASSIGN FILE * * FROM USER SYSVPROD GROUP PUBLIC TO USER SYSVPROD GROUP SYSVIEW

This gets the files associated with that user in its old group PUBLIC, assigned to the user in its new group SYSVIEW.

To check the group files are associated with, you can include the group the files are associated with in a query, use the GROUP keyword in the FIELDS display option, or, use ALLINFO on the QUERY.

Example:

VMARCH QUERY FILES * * (OWNER SYSVPROD ALLINFO
- or -
VMARCH QUERY FILES * * (OWNER SYSVPROD FIELDS FILENAME FILETYPE DOMAIN GROUP

If you do this before you reassign the files to verify this information, make sure you do the query from your System Administrator user ID so that you can do the QUERY.

Once you do the REASSIGN, the users authorized to QUERY SYSVPROD's files for group SYSVIEW, should be able to do so.

In summary, the owning user belonged to group PUBLIC before SYSVIEW. Files it archived prior to its group change belonged to group PUBLIC. Use the REASSIGN command to assign the files to the same owner (SYSVPROD) under its new group SYSVIEW.

Then, the QUERY files from the authorized users will work.  These VM:Archiver commands are further discussed in the
