Introduction:

We do not use CA TLMS as our sites tape management system.

However, we see "//TLMSJCL  DD  DSN=&JCLLIB(DSEXTLMS),DISP=SHR" JCL references in the following CA Dispatch PROCs:

CADSDISP - CA Dispatch Main region task procedure

CADSXTAR - External Archive task procedure

CADSARB(L) - Archive DUPLICATE processing procedures

CADSARC(L) - Archive Condense/Consolidation procedures

Question:

Should these JCL references be commented out since we are not using CA TLMS?

Answer:

No, there is no need for you to either COMMENT out or DUMMY out these //TLMSJCL DD DSN=&JCLLIB(DSEXTLMS),DISP=SHR references.

CA Dispatch determines which tape management system you are using based on the value that you have defined in the "Tape Management System ==>" parameter field on the VSGMU210--Sysgen Archive Control Information Screen (Option 9.A from the main menu).

If you do not specifically have option 2 specified (2=Online TLMS) as your tape management system on the VSGMU210 screen, then the //TLMSJCL DD statement JCL references to the DSEXTLMS job will be completely ignored.
