Issue:

TIM under MTP is not showing connections for SSL web servers under TIM setup option "View Tim SSL Server Status". The web server IPs are visible on the MTP Analysis page and have been added to the Web Server Filters list in CEM so are visible in the file "/opt/CA/APM/tim/config/timconfig.xml".

Environment:
APM TIM installed on MTP 9.6, 9.7,10.x
Cause:

The MTP code still uses the old TIM install directory name "/etc/wily/cem/tim" to link to the TIM.

Since 9.6 the install directory has changed to "/opt/CA/APM/tim" and "/etc/wily/cem/tim" should be a symbolic link to it.

In this case "/etc/wily/cem/tim" was a separate directory with own config directory containing a timconfig.xml file which does not have the up-to-date list of Web Server Filters which gets populated from the CEM UI to "/opt/CA/APM/tim/config/timconfig.xml"

Resolution:

1. MTP Linux commands:

a. sudo mv /etc/wily/cem/tim /etc/wily/cem/tim_bak

b. sudo ln -s /opt/CA/APM/tim /etc/wily/cem/tim

2. MTP UI:

From MTP Administration/Processes page restart just the nqcapd process

3. Check the current /opt/NetQoS/logs/nqnapacapd_<date>.log file and search for TimConfig references. The correct list of web server IPs loaded from the symbolic link version of /etc/wily/cem/tim/config/timconfig.xml should be visible.

4.  Use the TIM Setup option "View Tim SSL Server Status" to confirm that connections are now incrementing for the web server IPs. For non SSL web servers search the /opt/CA/APM/tim/config/logs/timlog*.txt log files for the relevant IPs to confirm they are being processed.
