Issue:

After a Java upgrade, Tomcat service does not start and the System event log shows service-specific error code 1. Tomcat is running as a service.

Environment:
Java
Apache Tomcat
Cause:
After the Java upgrade, the catalina.bat file was not set to the correct Java version and the Tomcat service needed to be uninstalled and reinstalled to pick up that change.
Resolution:
1. Change catalina.bat in directory C:\Program Files\CA\CA_OM_Web_Viewer\apache-tomcat-8.5.24\bin from the former java version   (for example)
   set "JRE_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_66"
   to the updated java version
    set "JRE_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_181"
NOTE: If you are using the JDK instead of the JRE, modify the set command to point to the new JDK.

2.  From folder C:\Program Files\CA\CA_OM_Web_Viewer\apache-tomcat-8.5.24\bin   (for example)
  • run service.bat uninstall
  • run service.bat install
3. Start the Apache Tomcat Windows service
Additional Information:
