Question:

The SMP/e ++HOLD ACTION for Datacom 12.0 PTFs RO20527, RO30267, RO33583, and RO43481 say to run DDUPDATE and DDCFBLD. Is this needed CA Datacom/AD environments? If so, how?

For example, PTF RO43481 has the following ++HOLD action:
++HOLD (RO43481) SYSTEM FMID(CADC000)
  REASON (ACTION )   DATE (13205)
  COMMENT (
This PTF delivers source member SDCTRNS which requires execution of
the batch utility DDUPDATE to apply the transactions contained in this
member.  An HSD RESET should follow by executing DDCFBLD.
          ).

Answer:

The Datacom PTF ++HOLD ACTIONs which require running DDUPDATE and DDCFBLD to update the Datacom Datadictionary have not been necessary for Datacom/AD environments, including CA Chorus Software Manager (CSM).

The actions for PTFS RO20527, RO30267, RO33583, and RO43481 are necessary for full product Datacom/DB environments because they follow a different upgrade process or use additional components of Datacom. Those HOLD ACTIONs update the 12.0 Datacom Datadictionary prior to upgrade to release 14.0. They are required by all Datacom/DB Multi-User (MUF) upgrades because Datacom/DB carries forward their existing Datadictionary during release upgrade. When Datacom/AD goes to a new release, a brand new MUF and Datadictionary is built during the installation process. A new Datadictionary would already contain any changes as provided by the new release. Note: CA Ideal Option for DB2 Datacom environments which use CA Datacom/AD are the exception since they require the same upgrade process as Datacom/DB installations.

Datacom/AD customers may APPLY those PTFs, bypassing the hold (BYPASS(HOLDSYSTEM(ACTION)) with no concerns.
