Problem:

When installing the CA Service Management 14.1.03 update, using the common installer,  on a conventional CA Service Desk Manager secondary server, the option to install the ‘Search Server’ is not available.

Environment:

CA Service Desk Manager 14.1.03 using conventional mode with a secondary server.

Cause:

In order to install the Search Server, the database client software must be installed on the secondary server. The 14.1.03 installer detects whether the database client software is present and if it isn’t won’t allow the installation of the Search Server component.

Resolution

Install the appropriate database client software on the secondary server (e.g. SQL Server Client  or Oracle client software)

Once the database client software is installed, reboot the secondary server and re-run the CA Service Management 14.1.03 installer and verify that the Search Sever component is now available to be selected for installation.

Additional Information:

After installing the xFlow interface and Search Server in a conventional environment, review this technical document regarding the required post-installation tasks.
